Vivian Jerothe - Artist

Biography

Vivian Jerothe has been involved with painting for nearly 30 years. Her earliest works included experimentation with portraits, landscapes and seascapes in both oil and water colors.. The love that she has for painting has made her explore various mediums including oil on canvas, watercolors, tole painting, copper enameling and recently color pencil.

Vivian’s subject matter has transitioned and varied as much as the medium she has worked with. However, the attention to detail on whichever medium or subject matter she uses is breathtaking. Her experience with subject matter includes an impressive list ranging from animal life, floral arrangements, seascapes, water fowl, south western and a wide range of others including even “Pet Portraits”. Because of Vivian’s diversity, she truly is an ideal artist to perform commission work no matter what subject or style you desire.

Although she modestly considers herself “self-taught”, Vivian has attended well over 100 classes and seminars focused on the Fine Arts. Techniques such as perspective, blending and composition have helped to refine her style to the point that difficult methods have become second nature to her. She has studied with several prominent artists such as Gary Jenkins, Barbara Pasco and Buck Paulson, to mention a few. Each session has brought her new insight on technique, but she manages to incorporate her own flare to every study performed. Through her studies, Vivian has become a member of the National Society for Tole & Decorative Painters Incorporated and is a Gary Jenkins certified art teacher (JCAT).

Vivian’s recent activities have been focused on commission work ranging from portraits to animal life. With her busy lifestyle, she still finds time to explore new and challenging works including color pencil. Her next endeavor will be as an instructor at the Magaret Mowery Studio’s in Nashville, Indiana. She will be providing teaching on floral techniques for the novice to intermediate artist.
